Not to be confused with Soong Kee from above, Soo Kee is another stalwart name in the KL Chinese food circuit. Established almost 8 decades ago, it is well known for its sang har mee (freshwater prawn noodles) and ngau yok hor (beef noodles in egg sauce). Buyer beware however, as the freshwater prawn noodles while delicious, can be quite expensive!

Although no longer occupying their old store, the recipes and dishes that its famous for are still served daily for a faithful crowd. Most notably the roti babi and Hainanese chicken chop, which are just as mouth-watering as when the restaurant was founded.

This is by far the oldest restaurant still running that we have on this list. Established in 1921, the Coliseum Cafe and Hotel is an icon of Kuala Lumpur. Serving authentic Hainanese Western fare that had made it a favourite of English businessmen since before Merdeka, it continues to cater to KLites to this very day. Signature dishes include their trademark Hainanese chicken chop and sizzling steaks seared to a juicy finish. Hochiak!
