1. Saravanaa Bhavan, Brickfields

Saravanaa Bhavan is arguably the most established and well-remembered name in the business of Indian cookery. Established in Chennai, India, the restaurant operates outlets in more than ten countries across the world. Renowned for their specialty in Southern Indian cuisine, Saravanaa Bhavan Kuala Lumpur is no different in taking after the brand’s reputation for delicious vegetarian food.

2. Ganga Cafe, Bangsar

The first on this list is a little tucked-away spot located in Bangsar. Ganga Cafe was founded by Meeta and Prabodh, who according to Robin from The Yum List, believe in the mantra that healthy food doesn’t have to skimp on taste.

  • Food is cooked farm to plate, ensuring freshness. Most ingredients are sourced directly from a vegetable garden behind the restaurant itself.
  • Gluten-free options for roti are available

Conveniently located within the Ampang neighbourhood in KL, Sangeetha boasts a menu that encompasses both Northern and Southern Indian cuisine that ensures you won’t be short on options. However, it has been reported that the prices are slightly more expensive as compared to its counterparts in Brickfields.

4. WTF, Bangsar

Unusual name aside, WTF Restaurant in Bangsar comes highly recommended for its Indian vegetarian food. Nestled in Lorong Maroof, many of its staple menu items are made completely in-house, with no preservatives. While they don’t boast a vegetable garden like Ganga does, staff members regularly visit the markets to obtain a fresh stock of ingredients.

Serving only Chettinad cuisine, Betel Leaf’s menu is split between vegetarian and non-vegetarian offerings, making it a versatile choice for those bringing friends or family who are more inclined to be having meat in their meals while you dine vegan.

6. Mr Naan and Mrs Idly, Brickfields

Sounding like a mom and pop restaurant that has been passed down from one generation to the next, Mr Naan and Mrs Idly is a vegetarian eatery that offers two other cuisines on top of the typical Northern and Southern Indian fare: Jain and Buddhist meals. Jain and Buddhist meals are unique in that they are vegetarian meals that they avoid using any root-based vegetables such as potatoes, onions and garlic.
